What is Sound Healing?

Healing through sound has been used to treat pain, restore the nervous system, and release trauma, amongst other ailments for centuries.

From ancient Greece and Egypt, to India and the Americas, sound has been instrumental in medicine, and Western science is starting to catch up and see the incredible benefits of sound in the medical field. Music therapy is deeply rooted in neurology and psychology.

The practitioner uses elements of music (rhythm, rasa, tone, volume, skill, emotion) to improve the health of the patient. Sound healing therapy improves emotional and social development, cognitive and motor functioning, and psychological health.

During deep sound bath meditation, theta brainwaves are stimulated, which results in a connection to our subconscious, improvement of our immune system, high levels of creativity, lucid dreaming, and increase in memory, to name a few.

Lucia uses her voice (mantras, chants, channeled music), Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, her medicine drum, koshi bells, percussion, kalimba, uke, guitar, and other instruments to create an experience conducive for deep relaxation and journeying. Sometimes she uses her looping pedal to create compositions of the moment, and occasionally she invites other sound healers and musicians to co-create together.
The person receiving usually lays in a restorative pose, and meditative state to allow for the nervous system to get attuned and recalibrated. Alpha and Theta brain waves are activated, working on the subtle body, bringing harmony to body, mind, and soul.

When we restore balance through sound we get access to innate frequencies that help us heal in a deep way.

“Breathtaking, awe-inspiring, magical: These are just a few words that come to mind when I think of Lucia's voice.  My company KISMET partnered with Lucia on a Sound Bath at Outdoor Voices in San Francisco, and she led us through the most incredible immersive sound healing experience. Lucia exudes a steady and calm energy that put the room at ease immediately, by the end of the session you could see the energy in the room completely transformed -- people were completely relaxed, at ease and entranced by her soundscape of instruments and divinely angelic voice. KISMET would partner with Lucia again in a heartbeat, and we feel grateful that she shared her musical gifts with our community.” -Leah Abrahams, KISMET SF

"As gifted as Lucia is, she is really a gift to us. I experienced a powerful sound bath with her and walked away on a cloud. Lucia exudes calm, patient energy and has a knack for honing in on how your body + spirit respond to sounds. It was an honor to work with her and I am on the look out for all of her events. If you happen across her work, jump at the opportunity!" -Amy L

"When I first met Lucia I instantly felt that she was a genuinely sweet and calm person with a spiritually grounded essence. Upon discovering that she was a passionate singer and musician, I went to see her perform live at Harmonia in Sausalito and was blown away with her divine voice. When I was informed that in addition to her singing and music lessons and workshops, she was also offering Sound Healing sessions, I knew I had to try it out for myself. I am not someone who has issues that I need to talk out with a traditional therapist, instead on occasion I need to seek out external support from an alternative healing practitioner to help me clear energy blockages, calm my nervous system, deeply relax my body and ground my spirit. I have tried various energy workers before with good results, however Lucia's Sound Healing session is even more powerful and effective. I felt like I entered a trance like state from listening to the sound of her voice and the beautiful instruments she played. I could feel myself releasing old unwanted energy and replacing it with new supportive energy. Every cell of my body was vibrating in response to this sacred ceremony of self-care and nourishment for the soul. I felt transformed at the end of the session, like I could better manage the world around me and show up to the rest of the day / week as the best version of myself. For me, I could see this being a regular part of my self-care routine. Lucia is extremely talented and I feel very blessed to have met her." - Sarah H, My Balance and Wellness

Occasions for Sound Baths

Sound baths can be booked as a maintenance practice, like getting a massage or an adjustment, by getting submerged in sound and allowing for balance to be restored.

The sessions can also be curated to honor a special occasion: getting ready to be a mother or a father, integrating a transcendental experience, celebrating an anniversary, getting married, clearing past experiences to enter a new chapter in life, acknowledging someone for their hard work, or marking an important rite of passage for a loved one.

I am also an Usui Reiki Practitioner and I can offer Reiki as part of the sound bath session.

"I met Lucia within the last year at a women's gathering. She sang for the group and it was amazing. This last week, I attended a co-ed workshop that she participated in. She provided the group with a sound bath at the end, finishing on a magical note. I have been to many sound baths before, where the practitioner used crystal bowls. Lucia's was different, she used a loop machine, her voice and instruments. At first, I was skeptical as I hadn't ever experienced this type of sound bath before but the vibrations of her voice on the loop machine helped me enter an extremely meditative state and was so much more personal than the sound baths I had experienced previously. To come out at the end, Lucia played the guitar and sang and it was such a gentle introduction back to reality and was extremely grounding.  Her voice is peaceful, angelic and beautiful. Thank you, Lucia! What a special experience." -Martine M
